1. What was the purpose behind your display case SDA?
The purpose of my display case was to make people who see it think about the things they buy and where they stand on ethics. A lot of kids aren't thinking about the source of their possessions or food because their parents are buying these things for them. Although some kids are certainly thinking about it, we'll need much more involvement to be the generation to reform consumerism. By bringing the idea to center stage and giving kids book recommendations about the topic, I feel like I effectively completed my goal of raising consciousness.
2. What do you hope people learn from it?
I hope people become more conscious about what they buy and what they eat because of the display. If I can make one person question their consumer habits, that means someone is learning.
3. Looking at it now, what could you have added for more impact?
I feel like I should have added a blurb about my project and maybe included pictures or infographics. People tend to do well with visuals, so even if they don't read any books from the display case, they would have been left with an image or fact about ethical consumerism.
